OOhh!! I am feeling so bad for this!! Is it just the me??? That’s what I was thinking while using it! 😩 I really couldn’t find the reason behind it, until I decided to write a review!! Yes! that’s why reviews are needed!! Not necessarily the positive one, but the honest one!! 😑You must be thinking!! What is this all about? I am talking about The Face Shop White Seed Brightening Serum. Yeah! Here it goes!! I really didn’t like the product!! Why? Read along!! 😡
But before that a little disclaimer here, I am not trying to bash the product, it’s just it didn’t work out for me! It might be a favourite one for few of you out there (but I honestly doubt that! Why? Read on!!)! I am only sharing my opinion. The Face Shop White Seed Brightening Serum is the result of my foolish purchases that I had made during my initial excitement of K-Beauty. We all make those mistakes. 😣
The Face Shop White Seed Brightening Serum claims to brighten skin and reduce the dullness on skin ( I have never understood, the necessity to mention terms like skin “brightening” and “reducing dullness” at a time in a product description, it literally means the same thing!!). Trust me it’s all the marketing trick!! So always look into the ingredient list before getting mesmerised by those alluring words!! Yeah I was!! That’s why I am writing this!! ✍️
The Face Shop White Seed Brightening Serum is suitable to all skin types! (I doubt it!!). 😕
Not Suitable for:
The Face Shop White Seed Brightening Serum is not suitable to anyone allergic to its ingredients or anyone with sensitive skin or with acne issues.
Ingredients List and CosDNA Analysis:
The ingredient list looks fine, actually an awesome one!! But I am not happy with the fact that:
- skin brightening marketed ingredient like “Daisy Flower Extract” and “White Lupin Seed” are at bottom of the list.
- The first ingredient at the top of a serum is “Water”. Why? This is a serum not a lotion or a toner!
- “Ethylhexyl Palmitate” is used in oil cleanser (which is washed off) is again at the top, this one can irritate skin in few cases.
- Salix Alba Bark Extract aka natural salicylic acid, the prime culprit in my case. Again this is a very famously liked ingredient by many, especially those with oily skin. But I am the unfortunate one. 😔
The only good thing is that “Niacinamide” which is an active ingredient for skin brightening is at top. Rest looks good! Yeah I kinda summarized this based on Cosdna Analysis and my personal experience.
How to use:
Since, The Face Shop White Seed Brightening Serum is a serum, use it after a toner. The right order should be (It’s just my suggestion):
The Face Shop White Seed Brightening Serum is suitable for day and night use, but I would recommend to use it at night time only as it does contain salicylic acid (in a very low percentage), which has a mild exfoliating effect on skin.
The Face Shop White Seed Brightening Serum comes in a classic opaque very stiff plastic cylindrical container with a pump type dispenser. A small cap is also provided to secure the dispenser. The packaging is really sturdy and does have an attractive appeal to it.
Expiry Period: The Face Shop White Seed Brightening Serum has a shelf life of 36 months and an after opening expiry period of 12 months.
Quantity: The Face Shop White Seed Brightening Serum comes in 50 ml quantity.
Price: I bought The Face Shop White Seed Brightening Serum from Amazon (India) for $23. Surprisingly from white seed line this is not available on many korean website. I have only found it on Missbeautykorea.com
The Face Shop White Seed Brightening Serum has a lotion like consistency and runs smoothly. The serum is white and has a pearl like sheen and it has a floral scent.
The Face Shop White Seed Brightening Serum absorbs moderately and keep skin hydrated.
Honestly! The Face Shop White Seed Brightening Serum has been a regrettable purchase. I did finish it somehow and I didn’t see any brightening effect. It actually felt uncomfortable on skin and caused mild itching. There was no redness but the skin felt itchy. I am not sure, if the itching was because of the salicylic acid (willow bark extract) used in the product. I finished it by using on neck over a time of 6 months or so…!! So, accordingly is my review and is a final one.
- Paraben Free.
- Vegan friendly.
- No mineral Oil
- Irritated my sensitive skin.
- Availability is an issue.
- I didn’t see any result.
- Better products are available for lower or similar price.
Do I recommend it? No!! Not at all!! Better products are available for skin brightening.
Will I repurchase? No! Never!
I am not saying that the product is really a bad one, few of the users might have found it good. I think it’s just that my skin sensitivity towards salicylic acid has resulted in skin irritation. 😞 Most importantly, the price, the availability, the misleading description and my experience has made me come to this conclusion.
